Rather Young

An Indianapolis Newsie (Rather Young)

Lewis Hine snapped this photograph in 1908 and called it An Indianapolis Newsie (Rather Young). Known for his documentation of child labor, Hine also worked with the Red Cross throughout World I and the Great Depression. By 1937, few people were interested in his work and he lost his house and applied for welfare. He died three years later. Today we are searching for the fate of the barefoot boy in the photograph.
